OHNY Preview: Center for Fiction

OHNY Members are invited to preview the new headquarters of The Center for Fiction with Noreen Tomassi, Executive Director, The Center for Fiction, and Gerry Ende, Director of Interior Design, BKSK Architects.

The Center for Fiction is the only nonprofit literary organization in the U.S. solely dedicated to celebrating fiction. Designed by BKSK Architects, the Center’s new 17,000-sf headquarters houses a circulating collection of more than 100,000 fiction titles, a bookstore at pedestrian level, auditorium space for educational programming, expanded meeting areas, flexible work-spaces, and administrative support space. Design elements such as 19th century-inspired metalwork, warm natural materials, and lively environmental graphics infuse the space, securing it as a ‘‘third place’’ for work, research and inspiration outside the home or office. Sustainable best practices guide the design, which will meet or exceed LEED Gold standards.
